Jesus Raises Lazarus


SA DIHANG GIBANHAW NI JESUS ANG IYANG HIGALA
Juan 11:1-45

Ang mga higala ni Jesus nga si Maria ug si Marta ug ang ilang igsoon nga si Lazaro nagpuyo didto sa lungsod sa BEtania. Usa ka adlaw niana si LAzaro nagsakit. Busa nagsugo si Maria ug Marta sa tawo aron adtoon si Jesus ug sultihan sa nahitabo.

Apan si Jesus wala dayon moadto sa BEtania. NAgpaabut una siyag duha ka adlaw. Unya giingnan Niya ang Iyang mga tinun-an, “Mangadto kita sa Betania. Ang atong higala nga si LAzaro natulog na ug Ako siyang pukawon.”

Ang mga tinun-an miingon, “Ginoo, kon nahikatulog siya, nan, mamaayo ra siya.” Apan ang buot ipasabut ni Jesus mao nga si LAzaro namatay. Miingon Siya, “Si Lazaro patay na. Apan, tana, mangadto kita kaniya.”

Sa pag-abut ni Jesus, gitagbo Siya ni Maria. Miingon si Marta, “Ginoo, kon dinhi Ka pa lang, dili unta mamatay ang akong igsoon.” Si Jesus miingon, “Mabanhaw ang imong igsoon.” Si Maria mitubag, “Nahibalo ako nga mabanhaw ra siya pag-usab sa katapusan nga adlaw.” Apan si Jesus miingon kaniya, “Ako mao ang Pagkabanahaw ug ang Kinabuhi. ANg mosalig Kanako dili gayud mamatay.”

Gidala ni Marta ug Maria si Jesus didto sa lubnganan. Dihay daghang mga higala nga miuban kanila. Mga masulob-on kayo sila. Ang uban kanila nanghilak. Si Jesus mihilak usab.

Gisugo sila ni Jesus sa pagkuha sa dakung bato nga nakatabon sa lubnganan ni LAzaro. Sa nakuha na ang bato, si Jesus nag-ampo sa Iyang Amahan sa langit. Unya misinggit Siya sa makusog nga tingog, “Lazaro, gula diha!”

Ug migula tuod si Lazaro. Nabuhi siya pag-usab. Gibanhaw siya ni Jesus gikan sa mga patay! Pagkamalipayon sa magsoon ug nagpasalamat sila kang Jesus. Nasayud sila nga ang mosalig kang Jesus dili gayud mamatay.

ALANG SA MGA GINIKANAN
This might be a good opportunity to talk about death. Why do we die? Sin brought death (Genesis 2:17; 3:1-19 Romans 5:12ff). It is not natural, as the evolutionists claim. God created the world "Good" without death and tears. What is death? Death can be defined as "separation." The Bible describes three forms of death: 1) Spiritual death: separation of a person's soul from God by sin and unbelief. John 3 talks of this as Jesus tells Nicodemus that sinful people must be born again by the Spirit who creates and sustains faith in Jesus. 2) Physical death: separation of the soul from the body until God reunites them on Judgement Day or as related in the few miracles God records in the Bible. See Ecc. 12:7 along with Gen. 3:19. In Luke 8:55 the girl's spirit returned to her body at Jesus' command and she was alive. 3) Eternal death: the eternal separation of the unbelievers' body and soul from God for all eternity in Hell. What does this lesson teach us about death? Jesus, the Lord of Life has the power over death (John 5:21-29). And through Jesus' death and resurrection, we are assured that believers will be raised and be given eternal life (1 Corinthians 15). We no longer need to fear death (as the sinful nature within us naturally does) but see it as a door to heaven to be with Jesus. Is it okay to cry when people die? We mourn that sin caused our temporary loss, but we also rejoice when a believer dies. Even though for time we are separated from those who die, yet in eternity we will be reunited with those who believed on Jesus as their Savior from sin and death.
