Excerpts from Metziel Rose Sangulingan's news article
The VBS we had this summer was dynamic yet challenging. Before we elicited in the field, segments of preparation and workshop were being conducted. Various committees were made to uphold craft, games, snack, music, and lesson section. In addition, we at HTLCC initiated VBS in nearby areas of Linamon, namely Poblacion (main), Tinago, Tilapass, and Power. It was launched last May 16-22, 2011 with its theme from 2 Timothy 4:18 ‘The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen’. A bliss from singspiration to proper lesson followed by craft-making and games then snack. There were 100 participants overall. The lessons/stories that were taught were: “Baby Moses Rescued” Exodus 2:20-2:1-10), “Crossing of the Red Sea” (Exodus 14:10-29), “The Empty Tomb” (Matthew 28:1-15 & John 20:1-21). VBS also foster children’s enhancement of their knowledge about the moral truths of the Bible, reinforcement of their socializing ability and development of their decorum on proper behavior by getting acquainted to Bible characters who took a good example in life. It was a very rewarding astonishment that in each places, children were participative, fervent and open to discuss and to learn about our Lord, Jesus Christ. Certificates were distributed to all as their proof of achievement and completion in the 3-day VBS. Special awards were also given to outstanding students.
